* Note: The Pichel family prior to 1900 has been difficult to research as the last name was frequently misspelled in various records. There are two records that show Bernard's name as Benjamin.  The 1891 Cincinnati Williams Directory lists Adelaide as the widow of Benj. Pichel. Adelaide also went by the name of Ann or Anna.

The term "Huxter" for occupation appears often in the 1880 census records. I believe that the term was "huckster" which was meant as a peddler. According to family records, Bernard was a cigar maker and the family would peddle the cigars.
